When is TIG welding used?
The TIG process is used to weld stainless steels and non-ferrous metals. The course covers the welding of stainless and structural steel, aluminium and titanium.
What will I learn on the course?
The course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, which lasts two days, participants gain the basic and specific knowledge needed to work as a welder.
Content of the theoretical training:
- basics of TIG welding
- advantages and disadvantages of this welding process
- gases and their properties
- equipment for TIG welding
- influence of welding parameters on the welding process
- welding techniques, protection and safety
- the most common ISO and EN designations for welders
- the most common weld defects and their causes
- basic terms and types of welded joints and how they are designated
How does the practical training work?
In the practical part participants gain practical skills in TIG welding. Instructors work with each participant individually and adapt the exercises to their level of experience and the client’s needs. The following positions are welded: horizontal fillet, vertical fillet, horizontal butt, vertical butt, HL-045 and pipe to wall (PH).
Can I obtain a welder certificate after the course?
Yes. After the course you can go through certification and obtain an international welder certificate. The test takes place in the welding shops of the Institute in Ljubljana or Maribor. More on the page Welder certification.
