When is MIG welding used?
The MIG process is used to weld non-ferrous metals under inert gas shielding. The course covers the welding of aluminium and stainless steel.
What will I learn on the course?
The course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, which lasts two days, participants gain the basic and specific knowledge needed to work as a welder.
Content of the theoretical training:
- basics of MIG welding
- advantages and disadvantages of this welding process
- gases and their properties
- equipment for MIG welding
- influence of welding parameters on the welding process
- welding techniques, protection and safety
- the most common ISO and EN designations for welders
- the most common weld defects and their causes
- basic terms and types of welded joints and how they are designated
How does the practical training work?
In the practical part participants gain practical skills in MIG welding. Instructors work with each participant individually and adapt the exercises to their level of experience and the client’s needs. The following positions are welded: horizontal fillet, vertical fillet, horizontal butt, vertical butt.
Can I obtain a welder certificate after the course?
