Resistance welding course

We run a two-day seminar on resistance welding. The programme covers the physical basics, an overview of the processes, equipment and electrodes, welding parameters, the most common defects and the testing of resistance welds.

When is resistance welding used?

Resistance welding is used in automated industry.

What does the seminar programme cover?

  • overview of new materials and welding machines,
  • physical basics of resistance welding, the Joule effect and heat distribution,
  • overview of resistance welding processes,
  • equipment and accessories, practical use, limitations and practical problems,
  • the most common defects in resistance welding,
  • electrodes: function, types, shapes, material and standard classification,
  • welding parameters: current, clamping force, time, current waveform and auxiliary parameters; parameters for seam welding and for flash butt welding,
  • joint preparation: typical preparation of the welded joint, fit-up, cleaning; the relationship between welding parameters and weld properties,
  • control systems, process monitoring and measurements,
  • special features of testing resistance welds,
  • protection and safety in resistance welding,
  • practical examples.
