Who needs a notified body for pressure equipment?
Before a manufacturer places pressure equipment on the EU market, they must carry out one of the conformity assessment procedures from annex III of the directive for each piece of equipment. When producing pressure equipment of category II, III or IV they must choose a notified body that carries out the relevant procedures. The directive classifies pressure equipment into categories of increasing risk.
Which services do you offer?
- review of the hazard and risk analysis,
- understanding EU directives, technical guidelines and harmonised standards,
- conformity assessment procedures and CE marking,
- review of technical documentation to the requirements of product standards and EU directives,
- supervision of energy installations,
- supervision of repairs and modifications of pressure equipment,
- legalisation of older pressure equipment with incomplete or no technical documentation.
Which conformity assessment modules are available?
| Module | What it covers | Certificate validity |
|---|---|---|
| A2 | internal production control and supervised testing of pressure equipment at randomly selected intervals | 1 year |
| B | EU-type examination (design type) | 10 years |
| F | conformity to type based on product verification of pressure equipment | unlimited; certificate for individual units of equipment |
| G | conformity based on unit verification | unlimited; certificate for each unit of equipment |
How does certification of the production process work?
- Application. the manufacturer fills in the certification application and declares that they have not applied to another notified body; in the application they state the edition of the standards they produce to.
- Confirmation and programme. within 8 days of receiving the application we send a confirmation with the names of the assessment staff; the manufacturer may object within 8 days.
- Initial assessment. review of documentation and production plants, a control questionnaire, an expert interview with the welding coordinator and key staff. For independent production of category III or IV equipment, the manufacturer must demonstrate quality at least at the level of EN ISO 3834-3.
- Report and correcting non-conformities. we record the findings in a report; you correct non-conformities within an agreed deadline.
- Certificate and surveillance. we issue a certificate valid for 3 years from the certification decision; before it expires, recertification applies with at least one surveillance visit to the plant.
Which key regulations and standards do you use?
Directive 2014/68/EU, the Rules on pressure equipment, the Rules on inspection and testing of pressure equipment (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 92/2008), the standards EN 13445 (unfired pressure vessels) and EN 13480 (metallic industrial piping), the technical code AD 2000 and EN ISO 3834 for quality requirements in welding.
